Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) Operations Planning Course

The SOTG course is a 2-week course, designed to provide students with the fundamentals of exercising Command and Control (C2) and staff planning at the Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) level.  The course uses the Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) Decision Making Process (SDMP) as the primary planning tool. SDMP offers the SOTGs and other subordinate units a common methodology for planning that integrates the actions of the SOTG commander, his staff, the subordinate and supporting units, and any partner agencies or organizations in order to achieve the SOTG commander’s desired results.  The process described helps the staff to think critically and creatively in order to develop viable alternatives that capitalize on the strengths of the SOTG while mitigating limitations.  At the conclusion of training, participants will have an enhanced ability to exercise command and control and staff planning at the SOTG level while building relationships and enhancing interoperability for future cooperative activities within Europe and elsewhere.
